Beekenkamp introduces collapsible pallet box system

The BE-Cube pallet box system, developed by Beekenkamp Berpakkingen, has been nominated for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2017. The pallet box will be showcased in a special exhibition for the 10 nominees during Fruit Logistica, Feb. 8-10, in Berlin.

The BE-Cube is fully collapsible, can hold up to 900 kg and can be stacked eight boxes high. The BE-Cube weighs less than comparable plastic and wooden pallet boxes, according to Beekenkamp. The pallet box system is made from HDPE material (high-density polyethylene) combined with aluminum or galvanized uprights, both of which can tolerate high (up to 65° C) and low (-25° C) temperatures, according to the company.

The aluminum posts, plastic pallet and the Big Bag can be manufactured to customer specifications. According to Beekenkamp, 234 folded-down BE-Cubes or 52 filled BE-Cubes will fit in a standard semitrailer, provided the lorry’s maximum permitted loading capacity is not exceeded.

The BE-Cube pallet box system is compatible with Big Bags and various other liners such as textile, plastic, wire mesh infill and cardboard.

Different stringer formats under the plastic pallet can be built to customer specifications and can be easily replaced, according to the company. The pallet box system is available with tilting and base emptying functions. Pallets can be made with a hole in the bottom to allow for unloading of product.

Fruit Logistica attendees will be able to cast their vote for the innovation award during the first two days of the trade fair.

Beekenkamp Verpakkingen has a booth at Stand D-09 in Hall 1.2, where a model of the BE-Cube pallet box system will be featured.
