Baldor prepares for BITE 2016

Baldor Specialty Foods will host its biennial BITE celebration on April 6. The event will be hosted from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Waterfront and La Venue located at 241 11th Avenue in New York City. 2016 marks the third BITE event as well as the company’s 25th anniversary.

To celebrate, Baldor has filled the day with presentations, cooking demos, contests and more. The event typically attracts more than a thousand farmers, chefs and retailers, including industry leaders like Eric Ripert and Daniel Boulud.

BITE’s headline goal is to map the frontier of the food business, the company said. The grand tasting hall, featuring more than one hundred vendors from around the world, has become a showcase for farmers and producers to exhibit new products and trends before they hit the market.

The company has planned a program of talks and panels, including a presentation from Noma-founder and entrepreneur Claus Meyer and a conversation with Union Square Hospitality’s Chief Development Officer Richard Coraine about the company’s controversial “no-tipping” policy.

The day will close with an after-party where restaurant industry VIP’s can meet with farmers and members of the food industry. This year’s after party features a line up of small plates from up-and-coming chefs like Jeremiah Stone, of Wildair and Contra, and Ryan Hardy, of Charlie Bird and Pasquale Jones.
